Things to Do in Cleveland Georgia

1. Yonah Mountain Vineyards

Yonah Mountain Vineyards is one of the most popular wineries in the area, and for good reason.

Located at the base of Yonah Mountain, this winery boasts magnificent panoramic views of the Yonah mountain itself.

Take a tour of the vineyards and learn about the winemaking process, and their range of exceptional wines, including both traditional and unique varietals.

The tasting room is spacious and welcoming, and the outdoor patio is the perfect spot to soak up the scenery while sipping on a glass of wine.

While on your quest for exceptional wines and idyllic vineyards, do make sure to set aside time for The Cottage Vineyard & Winery. The winery sits on top of a hill and the view is spectacular from their deck.

This family-owned winery produces a range of delicious wines, including white, red, and blush varietals. The tasting room has a cozy and intimate setting.

Once you know what you like, get a bottle and head over to sit on the deck. It is the perfect spot for sipping on a glass of your favorite vintage while soaking in the sunshine and the countryside views.

3. Serenity Cellars

Serenity Cellars is another excellent winery in Cleveland, known for its award-winning wines and picturesque setting. You can enjoy tastings of their delicious wines and for just $16, you get to try six different wines.

The staff is incredible. They were so knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. They will even bring each glass to your table, so that you can continue to enjoy the views.

4. CeNita Vineyards and Winery

CeNita Vineyards and Winery is a relatively new addition to Cleveland’s wine scene but has quickly gained a reputation for producing excellent wines.

It’s a family-owned place with award-winning wines made from their own grapes. You can enjoy a glass, bottle, or even a wine slushie while playing lawn games in their beautiful outdoor space overlooking the vineyards.

5. Tantrum Brewing Company

Tantrum Brewing in Cleveland, Georgia, is a must-visit for beer lovers. As Georgia’s first agritourism brewery, they offer unique and delicious brews, including specialty ones made from their own hops.

The owners, Shayla and Stephen, create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in their cozy tasting room. I highly recommend trying their Gypsy Queen beer. It’s an incredible experience with great beers.

6. Loganberry Heritage Farm

Loganberry Heritage Farm is a working farm in Cleveland that offers you a chance to learn about sustainable agriculture and farm-to-table practices.

The farm hosts workshops and classes on topics like cheese-making and beekeeping. Should you want, you can purchase fresh produce, meats, and dairy products from the farm store.

7. Yonah Preserve Trails

There are 10 trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels around Cleveland, according to AllTrails.

The one that I personally like and would recommend to a senior is this fantastic 6 mile loop trail near Cleveland, Georgia. I think you will love it too. It’s a pretty easy route, and on average, it takes a little over 2 hours to complete.

The trail is quite popular for hiking and mountain biking, but if you go during quieter times, you can still find some solitude. It’s well-marked with maps at major intersections, so you won’t get lost, and the trail itself is well-maintained.

The trail itself is easy to follow, and there are trail maps displayed at various points along the way. I’d say it’s intermediate in terms of difficulty.

The trail path is quite wide and it’s not too steep either. You will have views of hills throughout the hike. Along the way, you’ll come across the lovely Turner Reservoir and a small set of rapids on Turner Creek, which feeds into the reservoir.

The hike mainly takes you through the woods, which is pleasant. The last third of the hike is when you can see the water and cross the dam. I recommend going clockwise to save the water views for the end of the hike.

8. Town Creek Fishing

Then there is this awesome fishing spot called Town Creek in White County, Georgia. It’s just a short 3.5-mile drive from Cleveland, and it offers some fantastic fishing opportunities.

The stream is perfect for anglers looking to catch brown trout and rainbow trout. Whether you prefer fly fishing, spinning, or baitcasting, you’ll have a good chance of getting a bite here.

Before you go, make sure to double-check with the local Fish and Wildlife department to ensure the stream is open to the public. Also take a look at the Fishing Times chart to find out when the fish will be most active, so you can plan your fishing adventure accordingly.
