Greenville’s claim to fame is the Cambrian Ridge Golf Course (part of the Robert Jones Golf Trail). Though not as famous, the Greenville Country Club is conveniently located at a stone’s throw from downtown.

But if you have an adventurous spirit, you can find a fair amount of outdoor activities in Conecuh National Forest, which is around 60 miles further south of Greenville.

This trail is best hiked or biked in winter as summers can be hot and humid. You must coordinate your trips from mid-November to January with the District Office, due to deer hunts. 

Blue Lake Recreation Area

Blue Lake Recreation Area is a serene day-use picnic spot with a swimming beach. The lake is ideal for fishing, and a primitive boat ramp provides access for anglers.

Open Pond Recreation Area

Open Pond Recreation Area is a picturesque destination with well-maintained facilities. The campground offers both primitive and hook-up sites. You can enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, and cycling. 

Leon Brooks Hines Public Fishing Lake
