2. Triple Falls Trail: A Hiker’s Paradise

Must do! Triple Falls Trail offers a breathtaking experience with its beautiful waterfalls and safe, accessible trails. While the hike can be a bit strenuous, the stunning views make it all worthwhile.

The hike to Triple Falls is a moderate challenge, but the wide and well-maintained trails make it really enjoyable. With minimal obstacles like rocks and roots, it’s easy to navigate.

The highlight is, of course, the magnificent triple falls, among the best in North Carolina. Be prepared for a few elevation changes and don’t miss the 112 wooden stairs leading to the second falls—it’s worth the effort!

Triple Falls Trail offers absolute beauty and a great workout. The hike to the top of the falls can be steep, but the fresh air and rushing water are fitting rewards.

Take breaks on the large rocks or benches along the way to catch your breath, if you need to. It’s a wonderful escape into nature that combines exercise and stunning scenery.

3. Lake Summit Loop: Bike or Hike

Embark on a scenic adventure with the Lake Summit Loop, a nearly 10-mile loop trail near Zirconia, North Carolina.

While primarily known for mountain biking and road biking, it offers a delightful experience for walkers too.

The trail, a combination of gravel and paved path, stays close to the lakeshore. Choose quieter times to enjoy the serene surroundings and picturesque lake views.

For an optimal experience, I recommend biking the loop clockwise. As you pedal along, you’ll encounter bumpy sections and fascinating lakefront homes. The shaded road provides a cool and enjoyable ride.

While not a traditional hiking trail, the Lake Summit Loop captivates with its charming scenery. Walkers can traverse both gravel and paved roads.

4. Green River Cove Trail: A Scenic Adventure

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the 10-mile Green River Cove Trail that is considered fairly challenging. If you are up to it, the trail rewards you with stunning views.

The trail is suitable for backpacking, birding, and camping, as well. You’ll find plenty of solitude as you explore this picturesque trail, as not too many hikers venture on it..

Starting with a downhill stretch, the trail has a gentle slope for the first 2 miles, leading you to the captivating Green River white water. As you venture farther, expect a climb at the halfway point during the return journey.

Green River Cove Trail boasts an enchanting environment, adorned with trees and water features. While some sections may be eroded, the scenic beauty and charming atmosphere make up for it.

Follow the path, cross water streams, and discover hidden waterfalls. The challenging uphill portions are balanced by the rewarding sights along the way.

Don’t forget to bring a towel for a refreshing dip in the river—a perfect way to unwind.
